New Chicks & Tech

I have been lucky enough to be able to upgrade my faithful camera that is still amazing but not…shall we say a spring chick ;) I’ve upgraded to a new mirrorless body as well as a new 50mm Nikon Lens. Once I situated all my settings and learned some of the new tech I needed to get some practice! Though both my previous camera and this new mirrorless are Nikon, they are completely different. I have used the same camera for over 6 years, my camera before that had buttons in the same locations. This new one however, has thrown my muscle memory for a loop!

When I received my new camera I knew I was going to want to practice outside right away. I decided what could be more fun than taking pictures of new little baby chicks? ( I know that’s redundant!) Unfortunately I had to wait for the chicks to be a little older and for a warm day so they were comfy. This took a dreadful couple weeks but once the day was finally right, it was so cute and so much fun!

My kids had a blast holding them and putting them in their new coop once the photoshoot was over. I love locking in these precious childhood memories for my kids and myself! I have a terrible memory which I believe has had a hand in me becoming a pathological picture taker. When I see these pictures, I never forget how special these times are. I think it’s safe to say I like the new camera and lens. If this is just the first images using them? I’m very excited for all the art I’m going to create with them.

The face once he realized putting the chickens in the coop meant we weren’t playing with them anymore lol
